Ezio Usai
Originally trained as a civil engineer and logistics manager, Ezio Usai found his true calling in wood carving and violin making. His passion led him to Cremona, Italy, where he graduated from the International School of Violin Making A. Stradivari in 2016. He further refined his craft through apprenticeships with Alessandro Voltini, Massimo Negroni, and Massimo Atzeni, focusing on cello making.
In 2019, Ezio established his first workshop in Cremona with Pierre Flavetta, a specialist in oil varnishes. By 2022, he co-founded Mosa - Fine Violinmaking and Restoration, alongside Atzeni and Flavetta, in a historic Cremona location near the cathedral. He specializes in crafting instruments inspired by classic Italian masters like Stradivari, Guarneri, Montagnana, and da Salò, as well as 20th-century makers from the Bisiach workshop.
His dedication and craftsmanship were recognized in 2024, when he won a Gold Medal for Cello at the 18th International Violin Making Competition of Pisogne (ANLAI). Ezio continues to push the boundaries of fine violin making, blending tradition with innovation in the heart of Cremona.
