Magdalena Sapeta

Originally from Poland, my journey into the art of violin making began in Katowice, where I first immersed myself in the intricate world of violin construction and bow repair. This passion led me to the renowned International Violin Making School in Cremona, where I honed my skills further, deepening my appreciation for craftsmanship.

In 2006, I embarked on a new chapter by opening my own workshop in Valencia, Spain. There, I dedicated myself to the meticulous creation and restoration of both baroque and modern bows. Alongside this, I continued refining my craft under the guidance of master bow maker Tibor Kovacs. In 2008, I had the privilege of apprenticing with Jan Kudanowski in Cambridge, which proved to be an invaluable experience.

The entire process of studying, creating, and collaborating with renowned bow makers and talented musicians opened up a world of inspiring opportunities, allowing me to shape and perfect my unique style and express my personality.

By 2012, I relocated my workshop to the  heart of Madrid. However, in 2020, my path led me back to my roots in Poland, splitting my time between my hometown of Lesna and the cultural hub of Krakow. Today, I am based in the charming town of Joinville, France, where I continue to bring my passion for bow making, good food and wine!! :)

Throughout my career, I have been honored with several  awards:

  • Gold Medal at the International Competition in Mittenwald (cello bow), 2022

  • First Prize in St. Petersburg (violin bow), 2019

  • Second Prize at the International Competition of Pisogne (violin bow), 2024
